ROSS

Nestled in picturesque Marin County at the foot of Mt. Tamalpais (just north of San Francisco) lies the charming town of Ross. Home to around 2,400 residents, this quaint and close-knit community spans an area of 1.6 square miles and is surrounded by lush hills and boasts a near-perfect Mediterranean climate.

Ross has a rich history, dating back to when it was a part of the Mexican land grant, Rancho Punta de Quentin. In 1857, a Scottish immigrant named James Ross bought the land and established a ranch. Following his death, his family sold the land, which was subsequently subdivided and developed into the town we know today. Ross was officially incorporated in 1908.

The town is well-known for its stunning homes and estates, showcasing a diverse range of architectural styles—from Victorian, Craftsman, and Tudor to modern designs. Ross takes pride in its top-tier schools, such as the Ross School, a K-8 public school, and the Branson School, an independent college-preparatory school for grades 9-12.

This desirability is reflected in the town's real estate market, as the median home price in Ross was over $5.5 million as of 2022, making it one of the most expensive towns in the entire country.
